Choose a proper medically suited office location
Look for doctors that have a permanent office. (avoid festivals and “pop-up clinics”, etc.)

After you have decided you want to be a legal medical card holder it’s advisable to not cut corners and risk getting rejected- skip the dispensary doctor, or doctor in the back of a hydro store, or festival. Proper files and protocols must be kept on all patients. The state issues weekly random audits and if your certification center can’t verify you were seen, the State will reject your file and you will lose your money. Places like that don’t care about you-they may charge less, but often it ends up not being a valid card. They are taking advantage of you.
At Greenlight MMJ, we use a HIPAA-compliant Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system specifically designed for medical marijuana patients. We keep your secured HIPPA-compliant medical record files there so every patient can be verified within seconds at any time.
What is Bona Fide Physician-Patient Relationship?
- Evaluate the patient in person, review their relevant medical records, and complete an appropriate examination.
- Create and maintain a medical record that demonstrates the patients qualifying condition.
- Offer to notify the patient’s primary care doctor.
- Make a reasonable effort to follow up with their patients to evaluate the efficacy of their medical marijuana treatment.
After you see our cannabis doctor for a medical marijuana evaluation and receive a signed certification from the doctor, you can register with the state and receive a patient registry card valid for 2 YEARS. A follow-up with the doctor is necessary to establish a bona fide doctor-patient relationship and a section 8 defense. (as required by HB 4851 Bona Fide Relationship.)
We recommend scheduling a return visit within 6 months.
You may have your follow-up visit via telemedicine so it is so easy and convenient!
As always, we will also send you a reminder via text or email when it is time for renewal.
Please remember, although your card will remain valid until the expiration date printed,
it may not hold up in the court of law if you have not established a bona-fide relationship.
